RemitBridge ("we", "our", or "us") operates the RemitBridge mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.
Important Notice: RemitBridge is a personal finance tracking and planning tool. It does NOT send, receive, or process actual money transfers. All data is stored locally on your device.
Summary: RemitBridge stores all your data locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store your personal information on our servers. The only external connection is to fetch publicly available exchange rate data.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Enter
When you use RemitBridge, you may enter the following information, which is stored locally on your device only:
- Your name (for personalization)
- Transfer records (amounts, dates, recipients, fees, exchange rates)
- Recipient information (names, countries)
- Family member details (names, relationships)
- Expense records and budget information
- Fund request memos
- App preferences (currencies, notification settings)
We do not collect or transmit this information to any server. All personal data remains on your device and is managed by Apple's SwiftData framework.
1.2 Identity Verification Data
RemitBridge includes an optional identity verification (KYC) feature for profile completeness. Any information entered in this section is stored locally on your device only and is not transmitted to any external verification service.
1.3 Exchange Rate Data
The App connects to a public exchange rate API (open.er-api.com) to fetch current currency exchange rates. This connection:
- Does not send any personal information
- Only requests publicly available exchange rate data
- Uses standard HTTPS connections
1.4 Subscription Data
If you subscribe to RemitBridge Premium, the subscription is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs how your payment data is handled.
2. How We Use Your Information
Since all data is stored locally on your device, "use" of your information occurs entirely within the App on your device:
- Display your transfer records and history
- Calculate exchange rate conversions and estimated fees
- Show family dashboard, budgets, and expense breakdowns
- Send local push notifications for rate alerts and fund requests
- Export your records as CSV files (initiated by you)
- Apply your preferences for currencies, language, and display
3. Information Sharing
We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal information with any third parties because we do not have access to it. Your data stays on your device.
The only external data exchange is:
- Exchange rate API: Read-only requests to fetch publicly available currency data (no personal information sent)
- Apple App Store: Subscription management handled entirely by Apple
4. Data Security
We implement the following security measures to protect your locally stored data:
- AES-256 encryption for sensitive data stored on device
- Biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID) support
- PIN-based app lock option
- Apple Keychain for secure credential storage
- HTTPS for all network communications
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device:
- Your data persists as long as the App is installed on your device
- Deleting the App removes all associated data permanently
- You can export your records before deleting the App
- We do not retain any copies of your data on our servers because we do not have servers that store user data
6. Your Rights
Because your data is stored locally and we do not have access to it, you have full control:
- Access: All your data is visible within the App at any time
- Export: Use the CSV export feature to download your records
- Correction: Edit any record directly in the App
- Deletion: Delete individual records or uninstall the App to remove all data
7. Push Notifications
With your permission, RemitBridge sends local push notifications for:
- Exchange rate alerts when rates reach your target
- Record confirmation notifications
- Fund request notifications from family members
These notifications are generated locally on your device, not from a remote server. You can manage notification preferences in the App settings or your device settings at any time.
8. Children's Privacy
RemitBridge is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since all data is stored locally, no children's data is transmitted to us.
9. Third-Party Services
RemitBridge integrates with the following third-party services:
- Open Exchange Rate API (open.er-api.com): For fetching publicly available exchange rate data. No personal information is shared. See their privacy policy at their website.
- Apple StoreKit: For processing Premium subscription purchases. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the App. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
